I also work from home occassionally and use VPN Tracker 6 to connect to the server and the same thing happens - shortcut keys = spinning beach ball. If I disconnect from the server the shortcut keys work just fine. Also it doesn't matter if the files I work with are local or on the server. If I use the menu bar however PowerPoint works just fine - this is a shortcut key problem only. It doesn't matter what the command is - copying a word, duplicating a slide, saving a file, any of these can take minutes to complete.
